Aawaz charity organisation is pleased to announce that the annual multicultural event to celebrate the progress and achievement of the charity’s service users was a great success, attended by 178 guests and a number of dignitaries.
Aawaz Patron Councillor Jean Battle said, “It is so wonderful to see so many people here today despite the snow and bad weather, we have had a fantastic day and I congratulate all the women who have received awards and certificates, acknowledging their efforts”.
The glittering event was hosted by Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council who acknowledged the grassroots work of Aawaz and thanked the charity for assisting those in need in his borough. Volunteers welcomed the Deputy Mayor Cllr Mohammad Ayub and the Mayoress of Hyndburn, Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle Cllr David Whalley and the Mayoress Mrs. Barbara Whalley, Mayor of Preston Cllr Brian Rollo and his wife Mayoress Trisha Rollo.
“We are so humbled that so many agencies and communities support our work I think this is because it’s visible what we do”, explained the Manager Zulekha Dala.
Aawaz is an independent charity organisation working to support south Asian and eastern European women and families in this area. The charity established in 1997 will be 21 years of age in September this year.
